Since April 1997, when "EXCEL-01", the mid-term management plan, started, NGK has actively engaged in philanthropy focusing on supporting international students under "Corporate Citizenship", one of fundamental policies of EXCfL-01. To establish confidence among the peoples of the world, it is indispensable to mutually understand the culture and values of other countries. International student exchange is especially significant in that it promotes ambition and hope of the young people of the next generation, as well as providing an opportunity to deepen understanding and goodwill toward Japan. NGK has conducted business worldwide and the warm acceptance and the generous support rendered to us in each country are irreplaceable. Considering these situations, NGK established NGK Foundation for International Students in March 1998 to provide permanent support for international students as a part of public welfare. The Foundation has conducted activities to support international students studying at colleges in Aichi prefecture.

"NGK International House"
In addition to on-going international exchange between NGK employees and international students, NGK would like to encourage international exchange within the community by making NGK International House a center of cross-cultural communication. For instance, NGK is planning to promote international exchange between elementary/junior high school students and international students and also start language classes. Other activities will be occasionally considered. For the first international exchange, the Foundation will have a party as follows to celebrate the opening of NGK International House on Sunday, September 19, 1999 and will invite people in the community and the international students who will live in the House.
