NGK's fine ceramic technologies provide crucial support for the development of various industries. By promoting material research and developing production technologies, which expand the potential applications of fine ceramics, NGK continues to supply state-of-the-art products in all types of business fields as well as to explore and develop the potential uses of fine ceramics.
Our honeycomb ceramics, HONEYCERAM®, is an indispensable part for automobile catalytic converters. It has been adopted by automakers throughout the world and is manufactured in Japan, Europe, the United States, Indonesia, South Africa and China. NGK also supplies numerous other products that contribute to energy saving and environmental conservation. These include diesel particulate filters (DPFs) that remove particulate matter in exhaust gas from diesel vehicles and exhaust gas sensors exploiting ceramics.
Ceramic membrane filters for microfiltration incorporate ceramics that are resistant against heat and corrosion, and are being adopted rapidly in various fields such as general industries, food, medicine and home-use water purifiers. Dust collectors for high-temperature gas are also one of those products that were developed by applying advantages of ceramics. In addition, NGK is providing various industries with a diverse array of ceramic products including chemical apparatuses such as acid-resistant pumps and valves, and glass-lined apparatuses. We have developed refractories with high thermal conductivity and oxidation resistance, exploiting advanced firing technologies and know-how acquired through manufacturing ceramics. Moreover, with such products as HRS (hi-cycle regenerative combustion systems) that feature energy saving, firing kilns qualified for Cleanliness Class 1,000 and far infrared ray heating systems using ceramic heaters, NGK is meeting diverse needs in various industries.
