Background

  • In remote islands, the electricity by diesel is high cost due to transport cost of fossil fuels. Therefore, renewable energy such as Wind and PV becomes increasing in Reunion island. However, the grid is affected by the fluctuation of it since the grid scale is small.

Solution

  • When the frequency fluctuations of the grid by renewables occurs, NAS discharges/charges to compensate for them.
