NGK Selected as One of the 100 Best-Managed Companies
by Industry Week

NGK Insulators, Ltd. (President: Masaharu Shibata, Head Office: Nagoya) was recognized for the first time by Industry Week magazine as one of the world's 100 best-managed companies.

Industry Week (IW) publishes 240,000 copies every other week in the U.S. and 800,000 management and executives in manufacturing, construction, productive process, logistics and communications industries are its main readers.

This year's "100 Best-Managed Companies" is the fifth annual listing of the IW 100 which started in 1996. The top 100 companies were selected from the "Industry Week 1000", which identifies the companies with the highest ranking revenue. IW evaluates companies on several criteria: analysis of the company's financial performance, voting by international expert panelists and editors, and review of a questionnaire mailed to each IW 1000 company. The questionnaire each firm completes is to rate from a multilateral point of view criterion such as people, market development, technology, processes, and social responsibility.

IW describes each company is a leader in its industry and demonstrates superior management skills in areas such as financial performance, innovation, leadership, globalization, alliances and partnerships, employee benefits and education, and community involvement.

NGK won the award in recognition of its development of new products using original technologies, philanthropic activities such as supporting international students and fellowships for high performing engineers.

The 100 companies represent 13 countries; 74 companies are in the U.S.; including the top three; Japan, six; and Germany, four. Other Japanese companies listed include Denso Corp., Honda Motor Co., Ltd., Kyocera Corp., Sony Corp., and Toyota Motor Corp.
