NGK Insulators, Ltd. (President: Masaharu Shibata, Head Office: Nagoya) and Kyokuto Kaihatsu Kogyo Co., Ltd. (President: Yoshihiro Tokunaga, Head Office: Nishinomiya, Hyogo) jointly constructed a Recycle Plaza for refuse for the South Ena District Sanitary Affairs Association ("SEDSAA" Representative: Ikuo Naruse, Mayor of Akechi). On April 10, the completion ceremony, sponsored by SEDSAA, will be held in the Recycle Plaza in Akechi, Gifu with about 100 attendees from the municipality, SEDSAA, NGK and Kyokuto Kaihatsu Kogyo.
Ecology is one focus of NGK's business which contributes to the Earth's environmental preservation. We applied NGK's advanced technologies in sewage treatment to the refuse disposal field to expand our business activities and are aiming at annual sales of 10 billion yen in 2 years.
The Recycle Plaza facility promoting recycling and reuse is one of our most influential concepts in the refuse disposal business field to achieve a zero-emissions society. In the recycle Plaza, collected unburnable, recyclable and bulky refuse is efficiently sorted to recover resources and, at the same time, recycling activities are promoted with local residents. This Recycle Plaza introduced state-of-the-art technologies to screen reusable bottles by color of bottles, separate materials of plastic bottles and remove foreign matter automatically. Furthermore, NGK and the above association are jointly doing field tests of a gasification and melting furnace in the adjoining area.
