NGK Printer Ceramics Co., Ltd. ("NPCK"), a subsidiary of NGK Insulators, Ltd. (President: Masaharu Shibata, Head Office: Nagoya) will start manufacturing piezoelectric ceramics for color printers at its new plant located in Igura, Tsuru-city, Yamanashi Pref., from October 1998. The completion ceremony will be held on September 24, 1998 with the people from Tsuru city related to this plant attending.
This new plant has been under construction since April 1998 as a second manufacturing plant following the Komaki Plant to meet increasing demand for color printers and also to provide stable output.
The plant has an area of approx. 21,000m2 and the building site approx. 4,300m2. Approx. 2 billion yen has been invested. The plant will employ approx. 200 people including all employees of NGK Ceramics Ltd. (Tahara, Tsuru-city, Yamanashi Pref.), which is slated to go into liquidation with the withdrawal of the ceramic package business for semi conductors.
NPCK is planning to develop new products based on piezoelectric ceramics and micro and precision technology.
