NGK ESTABLISHES A FOUNDATION TO ASSIST INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS IN JAPAN

NGK INSULATORS, LTD. (President: Masaharu Shibata, Head Office: Nagoya) established a foundation , NGK Foundation for International Students, on March 25, 1998.

1. Purpose

NGK encourages international students to foster deep understanding and appreciation of Japan, and also contributes to the development of the global society by helping them become beneficial in the global market.

4. Activities:

(The recipients of the following benefits are limited to the international students who attend universities and graduate schools within Aichi prefecture. The benefits are offered basically for two years at most.)

  1. International House
    NGK will construct "NGK International House" and accommodate single international students (both male and female) with 40 rooms. Until the international house opens, NGK tentatively will rent out some rooms at its dormitory for single employees ("NGK Yagoto Dormitory") to international students, who are single and male.
  2. Scholarships
    NGK will offer 20 scholarships per year.
    120,000 yen/month for BA students
    160,000 yen/month for Master's and Doctorate students

5. Financial Information

Fund: 300 million yen
(100 million yen at establishment and fully funded to 300 million yen in 5 years)
NGK International House : approx. 500 million yen
