NGK Insulator, Ltd. (President: Masaharu Shibata, Head Office: Nagoya) established a production company for essential components "HONEYCERAM" used for automotive exhaust gas purification in Indonesia in April, 1996. The construction of the plant started in June, 1996, and it is scheduled to be completed in May, 1997.

The demand for automobiles has been rapidly growing in Asia. In accordance with that, the regulations regarding automotive exhaust gas were introduced and have been reinforced. Because of this situation, the demand for the essential components to purify automotive exhaust gas are expected to rise. NGK, to meet this demand, decided to establish its world's 4th production center in Southeast Asia, after Japan, U.S. and Europe. (The current production capacity of NGK, which includes the plants in Japan, U.S. and Europe, is 35 million units per year.)
